POWDER COATING
Powder coating is a protective layer that offers a resilient coating to materials that need protection from corrosion. This technique provides a more uniform finish than liquid paint and is much more durable. Our North Texas facility consists of a 10' x 10' x 30' Oven, a 12' x 10' x 30' Spray Booth and a Phosphate station as part of our 5-stage pre-treatment process. We excel at handling multi-piece projects like fencing panels, gates, railings and more.
SANDBLASTING / MEDIA BLASTING
Sandblasting is a cleaning method that has been widely used for over a hundred years to remove paint, rust and oxidation residue from materials quickly and efficiently. Sandblasting can also be used to remove scratches or casting marks. Rockstar uses sandblasting for many projects, including automotive sandblasting, rust removal, paint removal, industrial sandblasting, marine sandblasting and much more.

POWDER COATING FAQ'S
What kind of metals can be powder coated?
Powder coating is ideal for almost any type of metal surface including aluminum, bronze,
copper, brass, titanium and most types of steel, including alloys. Basically, if the metal
can hold an electromagnetic charge and withstand the heat from the curing process,
it can be powder coated.
What types of materials cannot be powder coated?
Most plastics, resin, rubber, wood and other materials that melt at high temperatures
are not able to be powder coated.
How long does powder coating last?
Powder coated surfaces can last up to 20 years without rusting, making it an ideal finish for fences, gates and other outdoor structures, as well as medical devices and mechanical parts.
How durable is a powder coated finish?
Powder coating is undeniably one of the most durable coatings available for a variety of surfaces. It holds up well to extreme weather and physical impact, meaning it’s resistant to scratches, abrasions and chips, and is ideal for both machinery and everyday items.

5-STAGE PREP PROCESS
Rockstar Welding follows the PCI Industry Standards for preparation to ensure a flawless finish:
Pre-Treatment: Sandblast (if needed) to remove scale, rust, dirt, weld splatter or any other surface contaminant that would compromise the finish
Cleaner Stage: The surface is treated with a warm cleaning solution to remove any remaining oil or grime build-up
Rinse Stage: Chemicals remnants are removed with a treated rinse, leaving a pristine surface to begin the coating process
Phosphate Conditioner: A Zinc Phosphate conversion coating is applied to create an ideal PH level and provide a protective barrier that will prevent corrosion and oxidation
Dry & Final Inspection: The surface must be thoroughly dried for the power to adhere correctly and to prevent flash rust from forming
Diligence at each stage in the preparation process ensures that the final coating will be uniform, smooth, durable and able protect the surface for up to 20 years.
